Realspeed Automotive was founded by Dan Carlson to provide the highest quality parts and customer service to Mustang and Ford Enthusiasts. Mr. Carlson spent a decade designing parts for Steeda Autosports before forming Realspeed Automotive in 2004. Over the years he has been quoted as a source for technical information in over 2-dozen magazine articles for Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, 5.0, Superford, Mustang Monthly, Mustang Illustrated and NMRA Race Pages, as well as books such as Mustang Chassis, Driveline & Suspension Tuning by HPBooks. Every person that works at Realspeed has a passion for racing and has driven their own car on the racetrack at one time or another (even the bookkeeper!) The owners and staff at Realspeed have won racing championships in the Fun Ford Weekend drag racing series and NASA American Iron road racing series. Dan also won 3 championships in racing karts before moving up to compete in the SCCA and also served as a driving instructor for club events at Sebring International raceway, Moroso Motorsports Park, Limerock Park and NJMP. The crew at Realspeed has made hundreds of passes down the 1/4-mile, testing parts in their own daily-drivers and race cars. Dan Carlson has been modifying Mustangs since 1990, when the Fox-body Mustang inspired him to build a daily-driver that would run 11’s in the 1/4-mile and still have excellent street manners so that it could be taken on cross country trips from Florida to New Hampshire where he attended college. These days it is not so hard to go 11’s in your daily driver with the right parts, but in the early 1990s it was pioneering. Today Dan’s Mustang runs the quarter mile in 10.4 @ 132 mph, out-handles most other mustangs on the road, and is used for everything from weekend cruising to picking the kids up from school. All this is accomplished with the help of about a dozen parts that Dan designed himself, and most of those parts are available right here at realspeedautomotive.com.
